Veterinary Technician Assistant (Full-Time)

Job Summary:

Progressive Technology is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician Assistant, you will work closely with licensed veterinarians and experienced technicians to provide high-quality care for animals. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and looking to grow their career in veterinary medicine.

In this full-time position, you will assist in various medical and administrative duties, ensuring that all animals receive the best care possible. You will be involved in patient monitoring, laboratory tests, assisting in surgeries, and providing comfort and support to both pets and pet owners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with daily medical procedures and examinations.

  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood draws, urine collection, and fecal exams.

  • Monitor patients under anesthesia and assist during surgeries and medical procedures.

  • Provide post-operative care and ensure proper recovery for animals.

  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and ready for use.

  • Provide educational support to pet owners regarding proper care, nutrition, and medication administration.

  • Maintain patient records, including updating medical histories and treatment plans.

  • Handle and restrain animals during exams and treatments in a calm and safe manner.

  • Assist in administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.

  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and alert management when stock levels need replenishing.

  • Support the clinics general operations and ensure a smooth workflow.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a veterinary technician assistant program or relevant coursework is preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain medical terms and procedures to pet owners.

  • Ability to handle animals with care and compassion.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and administrative tasks.

  • Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting or animal care role is preferred but not required.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week).
