<strong>Location: </strong>Oak Ridge, TN<br><br><strong>Job Title:</strong> Test Engineer<br><br><strong>Career Level From:</strong> Associate<br><br><strong>Career Level To:</strong> Senior Specialist<br><br><strong>Organization:</strong> Testing & Start-Up (51447083)<br><br><strong>Job Specialty:</strong> Core Engineering<br><br><strong><strong>What You'll Do<br><br></strong></strong>The Testing Engineer is responsible for developing, overseeing or executing test instructions for the purpose of demonstrating acceptable performance of equipment and systems, providing input to the development of and reviewing engineering issued specifications for applicable test requirements and acceptance criteria. He/she works with Project Engineers, System Engineers, and Design engineers to ensure testability of acceptance criteria. He/she reviews vendor submitted factory acceptance test (FAT) plans for adherence to specification test and functional / operational performance requirements and witnesses (while attending) FAT testing as the test subject matter expert specialist. The Testing Engineer also provide estimates for field testing activities and appropriate schedule input for project testing activities. He/she assists in the development of project functional acceptance criteria (FAC) documents and develops test documents. He/she performs preoperational testing on newly installed or modified SSCs to ensure equipment and systems meet the specified requirements, documents the test results, produces documentation about his/her work, meets with customers, other Test Personnel and site construction to discuss issues/status, meets with contractors and other staff to provide technical guidance and diagnoses faults and troubleshoots problems encountered during test activities. Testing Engineers will participate in Test Review Boards, advise the Board on testing progress, issues, concerns and provide evidence for completion of planned testing activities. He/she is responsible for directing support teams of craft and technicians in test performance. Testing Engineers work with Project Engineers in all facets of testing support during project execution and readiness activities and participate in final system integration and validation to identify functional problems. Testing Engineers follow internal quality control standards and programs. The Testing Engineer is expected to provide technical direction and leadership in mentoring and development of new Testing Technicians. OR MS in Engineering /Physical science. OR PhD in Engineering /Physical science. </li><li>There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire.</li><ul><li>3.0/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for Bachelor degree</li><li>3.3 minimum cumulative GPA for Master degree</li><li>3.5 minimum cumulative GPA for PhD</li></ul><li>In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. (Ref. DOE O 426.2A) <br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Job Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/physical science related discipline. Typical experience could be up to fifteen plus years.</li><li>Ability to provide frequent communication and interactions with variety of customers, both internal and external.</li><li>Present information clearly and effectively through oral and written word.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Prior Experience And Job Knowledge<br><br></strong><ul><li>Knowledge of test programs, hands-on experience directing or performing component, system, integrated systems and process systems testing within nuclear facilities with a preferred knowledge in one of the following; manufacturing process equipment, nuclear industrial facility or nuclear power plant related systems.</li><li>Good communication skills and interacting with engineering disciplines, production and operations personnel and providing management with requested testing updates.</li><li>Capability to communicate and represent CNS with suppliers and vendors as well as be able to provide technical solutions or direction to problems encountered during vendor testing which require a high level of ingenuity, respect and credence.</li><li>Ability to perform trouble shooting and evaluation of equipment or components to support completion of assigned projects and test activities.</li><li>Knowledgeable in the use and application of industry standards.</li><li>Ability to use MS Office. Experienced with specialized pressure change and helium leak testing is desired.</li><li>Testing experience performing hands on equipment operation / testing including pressurized piping systems and electrical systems testing preferred.</li><li>Naval and or civilian power plant systems operation desired.</li><li>Knowledge of rigorous “conduct of operations” concepts or following procedures verbatim within the context of personnel safety desired.</li><li>Testing experience in nuclear manufacturing facilities, process equipment, or power plant related systems or naval facilities, ships or manufacturing process.<br><br></li></ul><strong><strong>Why Y-12?<br><br></strong></strong>You get #morethanajob.
