Staff Platform Manager, Business Host Payouts

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

At Airbnb, if there’s anything related to money, it comes to the Payments team. We are building a world-class payments and commerce organization - one that currently supports 191+ countries, 70 currencies, connects dozens of payment providers and banks, processes multiple billions of dollars, and empowers more people to participate in our global marketplace.

We’re looking for people who know and use Airbnb and believe in what we’re trying to accomplish. Airbnb is a marketplace that connects guests and hosts, and Payments is central to creating the trust that makes every transaction possible.

The Platform team plays the role of conductor, bringing together engineers, designers, and data scientists to build great product experiences. Our Payments Platform Managers own outcomes across foundation, growth, and empowerment, setting the vision and strategy, defining the roadmap, and driving execution.

The Difference You Will Make:

This is a highly strategic, senior role with a mandate to define and build a new product area from the ground up. You will own the full stack of the business host payout experience - both in-product (app and web) and through our API and developer platform - and will be responsible for developing net-new financial management products. You will partner with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, data scientists, and field operations to build and scale these capabilities. You will also work closely with external enterprise partners and business host stakeholders to deeply understand their needs and ensure the products we build drive real business impact.

A Typical Day:

  • Payout instrument management flows: enabling business hosts to set up, manage, and optimize payout methods across multiple accounts and currencies
  • Host team management flows: tools and permissions that allow business hosts to delegate access and manage large internal teams operating across their Airbnb accounts
  • Earnings reconciliation flows: comprehensive reporting and reconciliation capabilities designed to meet the accounting and financial operations needs of large-scale hosts
  • New financial services offerings: identifying and building value-added financial products and services tailored to the unique needs of business hosts

Your Expertise:

  • 8+ years of experience building payments or financial products in a product management role, with a track record of owning strategy, roadmap, and execution
  • Demonstrated experience building enterprise or B2B products for large business customers, including deep understanding of enterprise needs and workflows
  • Experience building or managing API-based products and developer-facing platforms, with the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams and external developer partners
  • Global and multi-market experience: track record of building products that serve customers across multiple geographies, currencies, and regulatory environments
  • Ability to articulate a clear, compelling vision and strategy for a product area and rally cross-functional teams around it
  • Exceptional prioritization and decision-making skills: given competing needs and limited resources, able to make clear tradeoffs and communicate rationale to stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to build strong partnerships inside and outside the Product organization, including with operations, compliance, finance, legal, and external enterprise

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical background: prior experience as an engineer, data scientist, or in payment operations is a strong plus
  • Experience with global payout methods, disbursement networks, or treasury management products
  • Experience with financial services product development, including financial reporting, reconciliation, or accounting workflow tooling for business customers
  • Experience at a consumer marketplace or two-sided platform with both B2B and B2C product surface areas
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully scale products from 0>1, including building new product areas in ambiguous environments
