Principal Product Manager, Platform

About Life360

Life360’s mission is to keep people close to the ones they love. Our category-leading mobile app, Tile tracking devices, and Pet GPS tracker empower members to protect the people, pets, and things they care about most with a range of services, including location sharing, safe driver reports, and crash detection with emergency dispatch. Life360 serves approximately 95.8 million monthly active users (MAU), as of December 31, 2025, across more than 180 countries.

Life360 delivers peace of mind and enhances everyday family life with seamless coordination for all the moments that matter, big and small. By continuing to innovate and deliver for our customers, we have become a household name and the must-have mobile-based membership for families (and those friends who are basically family).

Life360 has more than 500 (and growing!) remote-first employees. For more information, please visit life360.com.

Life360 is a Remote-First company, which means a remote work environment will be the primary experience for all employees. All positions, unless otherwise specified, can be performed remotely (within the US) regardless of any specified location above.

About The Team

This role will work across the Horizons organization on initiatives spanning engineering, infrastructure, and product teams. As we scale to hundreds of millions of families who depend on Life360 every day, the stability, security, and trustworthiness of our platform is mission-critical. This is a high-visibility, high-leverage role that requires someone who can operate at the intersection of technical depth and strategic product thinking, working across the entire organization to raise the quality bar for everything we ship.

About the Job

Life360 is used by families in moments that matter: tracking a teenager's first drive, checking in on an aging parent, knowing everyone made it home. The platform that powers those moments has to be bulletproof. We are looking for a seasoned product leader with a strong point of view on how to make that happen.

As Principal Product Manager for Platform, you'll own the strategy that keeps Life360 fast, reliable, and observable as we scale to hundreds of millions of users. You’ll set the bar for what a world-class consumer platform looks like, defining the metrics that prove it, and driving alignment across engineering, operations, and leadership to get there. This isn't a support role. You're a force multiplier for every team that ships on our platform, working directly with the VP of Product and senior engineering leadership to build the practices, tooling, and processes that protect our most critical systems. When you get this right, product teams ship faster and families never notice the infrastructure.

The US-based salary range for this position is $178,500 to $261,500. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.

What You’ll Do

Get ahead of growth, not behind it. Identify where the platform will break before it does and build the fault tolerance and capacity buffers to make sure it doesn't.

Set the standard. Define company-wide platform KPIs — SLOs, SLAs, error budgets — that give product and engineering teams the confidence to ship fast without second-guessing the foundation beneath them.

Make incidents a non-event. Own the roadmap for incident management, disaster recovery, and business continuity so that platform disruptions never become a ceiling on product velocity.

Make the invisible visible. Drive the observability and telemetry roadmap so every team has real-time instrumentation into system health and no one ships into the dark.

Hunt systemic risk. Partner with engineering leadership to surface and mitigate the structural risks that constrain growth before they affect the millions of families who depend on us.

Embed reliability into how we build. Establish performance and reliability as first-class product requirements, not afterthoughts.

Translate platform complexity into decisions. Turn platform health data and infrastructure realities into sharp narratives: what's slowing us down, what we need for the next order of magnitude, and where to place the bets now.

Build muscle, not just the plan. Establish rituals such as post-mortems, game days, capacity planning to make reliability a cultural practice, not a reactive one.

What We’re Looking For

10+ years of product management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or principal-level role with cross-functional scope

Proven track record working on platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing problems at a fast-growing consumer technology company

Ability to cut through noise and focus on what matters

Familiarity with reliability engineering concepts: SLOs/SLAs/SLIs, error budgets, on-call processes, incident response, and observability tooling

Experience driving alignment across large, matrixed engineering organizations on initiatives

Strong analytical skills and comfort utilizing quantitative data and other signals to define what good looks like and hold the bar there

Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear business priorities for diverse audiences

High degree of ownership and bias for action; you don’t wait to be asked, you identify the problem and mobilize the right people to solve it

Well-versed and opinionated on the intersection of consumer technology and security, privacy, trust, and compliance.

Experience with large-scale mobile or consumer applications serving hundreds of millions of users is a strong plus

Our Benefits

Competitive pay and benefits

Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance plans (100% paid for employees)

401(k) plan with company matching program

Mental Wellness Program & Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental well-being

Flexible PTO, 13 company-wide days off throughout the year

Winter and Summer Weeklong Synchronized Company Shutdowns

Learning & Development programs

Equipment, tools, and reimbursement support for a productive remote environment

Free Life360 Platinum Membership for your preferred circle

Free Tile Products

Life360 Values

Our company’s mission-driven culture is guided by our shared values to create a trusted work environment where you can bring your authentic self to work and make a positive difference

Be a Good Person - We have a team of high integrity people you can trust.

Be Direct With Respect - We communicate directly, even when it’s hard.

Members Before Metrics - We focus on building an exceptional experience for families.

High Intensity, High Impact - We do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Our Commitment to Diversity

We believe that different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds create a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better results. Together, we continue to build an inclusive culture that encourages, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our employees. It fuels our innovation and connects us closer to our customers and the communities we serve. We strive to create a workplace that reflects the communities we serve and where everyone feels empowered to bring their authentic best selves to work.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at Life360.
