Workstyle

  • Employee must be able to work onsite at least 4 days per workweek, at our Torrance, CA corporate office. One remote workday per week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
Job Purpose
  • In this role, the incumbent will lead the IT Quality Assurance and Compliance function for Honda's Consumer Applications, ensuring secure, compliant, and high-quality delivery of complex, customer-facing technology solutions.
  • The role owns QA strategy, operational execution, release governance, and regulatory compliance while providing leadership, risk oversight, and consultative support across business and IT stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
  • QA Leadership & Governance: Lead and develop QA teams and vendors; establish consistent QA standards, quality gates, and automation practices across platforms using Agile and SAFe.
  • Quality Strategy & Planning: Define and execute a risk-based QA strategy aligned with business objectives, regulatory timelines, release criticality, and customer impact.
  • Testing & Release Assurance: Oversee manual and automated testing (unit, integration, performance), defect management, and release approvals.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to regulatory, legal, security, privacy, PII, SOX, GDPR / CCPA awareness and Honda's IT policies; assess and mitigate quality and compliance risks prior to production deployment.
  • Process Improvement & Audits: Drive continuous improvement through metrics, trend analysis, internal/external audits, and corrective actions to reduce defects, incidents, and compliance exposure.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Development, Security, Privacy, Operations, Legal, Marketing, Governance, Infrastructure, and PMO teams.
  • Consultative & Technical Oversight: Maintain deep understanding of IT architecture and platforms; provide quality, compliance, and delivery guidance to Consumer Apps initiatives.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Minimum educational qualification:
    • A Bachelor's level degree / diploma in Computer Science / Data Science / Information Technology / Information Systems / Applied Mathematics / Electronics / Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience in the industry.
  • Minimum work experience:
    • At least 8 years of relevant work experience in the IT industry, besides academics.
    • Proven leadership in IT QA, software testing, and regulatory compliance within enterprise, customerfacing environments; experience with web platforms, vendors, and complex integrations.
    • Technical Expertise: QA tools and automation (including building automation from the ground up), API and downstream integrations, release management, risk assessment, and familiarity with AI / ML tools for QA efficiency.
    • Regulatory & Governance Knowledge: Data privacy, security, SOX, platform governance, and compliance operations; automotive industry experience preferred.
    • Leadership & Execution Skills: Strong people leadership, strategic thinking, problem solving, communication, service management, and the ability to manage ambiguity in fastpaced environments.
    • Mindset: Be detail-oriented, organized, data-driven, and committed to continuous improvement.
